Smith takes
home top prize
Starting with 142 bowlers from 10
states and 2 Canadian Provinces, the field was cut to the top 36
bowlers. Those top 36 bowled 12 head to head match play games,
narrowing the field down to the top 5 bowlers. The top 5 bowled a
televised step ladder final and Minnesota native Jeff Smith edged out
Minot's Steve Nush in the final match 228 to 223 to take home the top
prize of $5000. Nush pocketed a cool $3000, followed by Adam Apo
of Rochester with $2200, Sam Lantto of the Twin Cities $1400, Mike
Schmidt of Canada $1000.
